THE OWNER

Chef Edward Mendoza comes from Augusta, GA and has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Augusta State and a Culinary Degree he earned in Vail, CO. He would go on to cook all around the country and world and has garnered countless accolades along the way. Today he is the owner and chef of Cucina 503 off of Fury's Ferry Road. He also serves as a corporate chef at major events like the Masters, U.S. Open, Kentucky Derby, and the Super Bowl. Edward is very involved in the community by hosting and raising money for several charities. Notably, his newest cause is the Alzheimer's Association. Today, Edward is putting his business and culinary expertise to work on a more casual dining experience focusing on local cuisine with the launch of his new restaurant, Local Augusta, at the corner of Evans to Locks and Fury's Ferry Road.

Local Augusta is a neighborhood gathering place featuring ingredients from our favorite farmers. Our restaurant is the kind of place you can relax, eat outstanding and fresh food, or just sit at the bar and hang out with your friends. The menu is comprised of what could be best explained as 'tavern comfort food.' Our culinary approach consistently embraces a menu that welcomes the simplest, most honest ingredients available. We partner with local farmers to bring fresh, handpicked flavors to every dish. We’ll also be grinding our own meat for a signature meatloaf. We stay true to who we are while preparing food that makes us happy. The concept of the restaurant focuses on all that is unique about Augusta. The decor focuses on the people and history of Augusta.
